Close up

More than Meets the Eye is a two-part installation of five small sculptures and their supporting microscopic images. The studies of the flowers, collected on the cliffs in Porthleven, Cornwall, reveal incredible abstract structural forms supporting the real corresponding flowers suspended in clear resin orbs on claw stands.

The image and the sculpture are of the same object, and the piece asks questions about our perception of nature around us. There is an increase in climate change activity right now and a sea change in shared awareness about saving the planet. A significant part of my sculptural work reminds us to celebrate the natural beauty of nature, and through understanding the complex structures of organic forms we may be able to find a new way of thinking.
