Sculpture X, plaster, mild steel and memory foam, 110 x 110 x 90cm , 2019.

The central black ball is a plaster cast of a cardboard ball. And the protruding metal tentacles each have a platform that acts as a cage containing the flesh coloured memory foam. The sculpture’s unique matt surface texture has made people question whether it was made from something more solid like metal and it is perhaps the juxtaposition of the materials and colour that creates a strange relationship between the sculpture looking dangerous, yet soft and enticing.

The sence of mystery allows the work to contain a duality of darkness and beauty in which fiction and truth exist and are questioned.
